Corps is a program of Center for Music National Service (MNS), a social enterprise based in San Francisco that promotes music for public benefit and social impact. Musician. Corps trains and places musicians as teachers, mentors and care workers in public schools, children's and veterans hospitals and other settings where music can reach, teach and heal. Musician. It is difficult to imagine the life of a severely wounded warrior recovering at Walter Reed. Wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, many have had their lives blown up in every sense of the word. Musicorps is an intensive music rehabilitation program that helps them recover their lives. Musicorps replicates “real world” music relationships so that injured veterans work on, and are motivated to work on, robust goal- oriented projects many hours a day. Musicorps integrates individualized projects, regular visits by accomplished musicians, and the use of specially- assembled computer- based music workstations along with traditional instruments. Working in any musical style they prefer, wounded warriors are able to learn, play, write, record, and produce original material. Notes of Appreciation - Music for our Military. Notes of Appreciation - Music for Our Military is an all volunteer program whose mission is to support Music Therapy initiatives by providing musical instruments, sheet music, music books, CD's and various other music and recreational therapy related items to VA facilities nationwide. Operation Cuppa Joe Music 2 Mend (California)Operation Cuppa Joe launched the Music 2 Mend Military Combat Healing Operation Cuppa Music Program to provide Troops with help with PTSD and other combat and deployment trauma. Soldiers discover a way to begin healing themselves through music therapy instead of medication. Music therapy programs consist of playing, practicing, listening or learning how to play a musical instrument to reconnect Soldiers with their feelings,emotions, and minimize the debilitating affects of combat memories. Through therapeutic music therapy, Soldiers reduce stress, remain calmer, improve ability to focus and recall, improve long term and short term memory, improve morale and quality of life, restored confidence and a sense of empowerment and independence. Operation: Music Aid. Operation Music Aid was founded to supply guitars and keyboards to wounded military service personnel now in military hospitals for extended care. We supply the instruments to the hospitals and they are distributed as needed to assist in physical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as for morale. We want to make sure that these young men and women are not forgotten. Our goal is to get an instrument to every one of our heroes who have been injured defending our freedom. Operation Music Aid is 1. A- political, and expresses no opinion on the merits of the current conflict. Our sole purpose is to deliver instruments to the hospitals for the wounded. All instruments received at the hospitals become the property of the individual patients. When providing therapeutic opportunities through artistic mediums, participants are able to explore feelings through the safety of a contained experience. Drama, art and music therapy provide a means of nonverbal expression which then can be viewed, heard or enacted, providing an external representation of internal thoughts and emotions. This artistic representation can then be processed verbally with therapists in order to explore personal reactions and facilitate insight into each individual’s own experience. Creative arts therapists monitor this process carefully, attending to expressive content as it emerges and frequently containing it within a metaphor. Art can then become a process one can explore with without revealing too much personally. Instead, personal experiences are attributed to the art medium through a dramatic character, a drawing or a musical composition. Operation Soundoff - Music recording and performing opportunities.
